Encouraging home ownership among the rakyat is still one of the government’s main agendas, and this is expected to be pushed through even more in the upcoming Budget 2020 that is to be unveiled on October 11th with an introduction of a new home-ownership scheme.
According to a report released by The Edge, Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Wira Amiruddin Hamzah said this in his speech at the briefing for the property market 1H2019 and the launch of the Unsold Property Enquiry System Malaysia (UPESM) 2.0 held at the National Institute of Valuation (Inspen) yesterday.
Budget 2020 will attempt to overcome the issues faced by the property market, such as the bankability of certain buyers and the mismatch between the location of houses and buyers’ expectations.
“What is important is to come out with a scheme for those who are less bankable to help them become bankable… with some innovative schemes. I’m not supposed to give away anything here but [it will be] something along that line,” he added.
As the government mulls over the scheme targeted to those who have problems in securing a home loan, the budget is still in formulation while considering the many good suggestions received from the rakyat so far. In anticipation of the second budget under the new ruling government, homebuyers are hopeful to see more options and flexibility in their pursuit to own a home.
