According to a report by The Star, Jiangsu Provincial Construction Group Co Ltd (JPC) is in collaboration with Koperasi Alumni MKM Kuala Lumpur Bhd (Kopama) and Kava Resources (M) Sdn Bhd to build more affordable homes in Malaysia with reasonable price tag ranging from RM40,000 to RM300,000.
JPC chairman Chen Zhenhua said the group could deliver one million units faster than the stipulated 10-year timeframe if the land banks were available.
This would be made possible by using the Industrialised Building System (IBS), an innovative construction technique whereby components are manufactured in a controlled environment, either at site or off site, placed and assembled into construction works.
Kopama president Datuk Abdul Rahim said that the co-operative served as the end-financier. Those who purchase a landed property worth RM300,000 would need to pay only RM833 a month for a period 30 years.
Meanwhile for high-rise units priced RM40,000, the monthly commitment would be RM138. For those who wants to build a bungalow on their land plot, it could be built for as low as RM50,000 per unit.
“We take into consideration the household income instead of individual income, so that prospective buyers can qualify for the financing schemes,” he said. Datuk Abdul Rahim also urged those interested to be a member and start saving with Kopama to buy their dream home.
The first batch of 100,000 affordable units to be built by JPC in collaboration with the two local companies were launched on November 23rd. Melaka would be the first venue for the affordable home scheme under the “tripartite” smart partnership agreement.
